Malaysia To Hold Cultural Festival In Pekanbaru

RIAUTERBIT.COM - The Malaysian government will hold the 8th Cultural Festival called "Jelajah Nusantara" in Pekanbaru City, Riau Province, from August 4 to 7, 2017.
        
"This festival will mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Indonesia and hopefully bring together the cultures of the two countries," Malaysian Consul in Pekanbaru, Hardi Hamdin, told Antara here on Wednesday.
        
He explained that the festival will introduce a variety of Malaysian traditions, arts, culinary, hospital services, and universities to the visitors.
        
The festival will be held in Bandar Serai Idrus Tintin and Senapelan areas beside Siak River, Pekanbaru.
        
It will also involve the administration of Riau Province, especially the Tourism Office.
        
"The event can also be a good opportunity for the Riau Administration to promote its tourism sector," he remarked.
        
Meanwhile, President of Malaysian Home Stay Association, Dato Sahariman, noted that the Malaysian participants will enjoy the sensation of home stay in Pekanbaru City.
        
"They will try the home stay in Pekanbaru for four days and three nights," Dato Sahariman, who is also Vice President of Malaysia Travel Assembly, explained.
        
Meanwhile, the Head of Marketing Division of Riau Province Tourism Office, Yulisma, stated that the administration highly appreciates the cultural festival as it could provide benefits for both parties.
        
According to Yulisma, the festival is a place to exchange information and promote tourism potentials between Riau and Malaysia.
        
"The festival will feature culinary from 12 districts and cities in Riau, especially those made of sago, which is of high importance in Riau," he revealed. (ant)
